In late 1987, a company called Checkers built an Airwolf replica out of a Bell 222B registered ZS-HMD (47232) along with a jeep CJ-5 replica of Santini's Jeep that toured in South Africa with Jan-Michael Vincent visiting various Checker's Grocery Stores for the annual Arrive Alive Road Safety Campaign.

The helicopter was sold and stripped for parts and worked  as an ambulance helicopter in Denmark, registered as OY-HIG with 'Air Alpha Greenland from 2004-2006 and Air Alpha from 2006-2008.

It now resides in Johannesburg, stripped for spares.

Whatever happened to the modifications, if they were destroyed or not is uncertain. A documentary by Airwolf Themes creator Mark J. Cairns was supposed to be released in 2011 but was cancelled.
